Early attempts in UE5 (2021)

Level Design / Video Games / Concept Art

I immediately started tinkering in UE5 beta once I got my hands on it - it was also around the time I started learning unreal on YouTube. Here are the three projects where I tested out some new UE5 features.

"WaterBody"

This is the first ever project I created with UE5. I wanted to mostly try out Lumen, the new global illumination method, as well as Megascans (i.e., the plants/tree barks). I also tried out glass textures in UE5.

"GlassLevel"

For my second project in UE5, I wanted to design a glass maze. A maze with metal and glass separators that would create illusions about the paths forward. The endpoint has an emissive light that illuminates when stepped on.

"Nox" / "Level3"

Project Nox ("Hypernox") had become LUCIDA, and now PROTO. See more of Project Nox here.

The third project was the precursor to the LUCIDA project. It began as a bento box design with two levels of elevation and a linear path of progression. Aesthetically it was somewhat inspired by the retrofuturistic look in Alien: Isolation.
